My Tri Guy....

"My guy" signed up to participate in a half Ironman over a year ago and this weekend, he completed it! I have not one ounce of desire in my body to do something like this...we are very very different!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself so you'll understand how different my husband and I are...

  • I HATE to exercise! I always feel great when it's done but I dread getting started!
  • I sleep ALOT! When people ask me what my hobbies are, that's the first thing that comes to mind. I'm a big napper and LOVE to sleep in....any chance I get!
  • Discipline and perserverance...not my strong points
  • I can talk to anybody - it's one of personality traits - friends growing up always said I could talk to a brick wall and they are right!

He's the complete opposite of these things - he is such a disciplined person in everything he does. Anything he sets his mind to, he succeeds! He's so strong (physically and mentally).

He's not a napper and he's up and at 'em in the morning. He can't imagine sleeping until noon - he never did that as a teenager (me on the other hand.....). He has no interest in laying around all day (even with football on) "There is too much to do"

He makes me so proud to be his wife and everyday I'm just so proud of him as a person!!! He would be someone that amazed me even if I didn't know him.

He's very quiet and reserved....he thinks before he speaks. He's level headed - not easily angered - patient. (no this has no meaning to the post but yes...I'm the opposite of that!)

I don't know anything about triathlons but supposedly you work yourself up to an Ironman - you do a sprint, then olympic distance, then a half ironman, then the full ironman. He just jumped right in and did the Half!!!

Can you tell we are proud of him????

First Creation!

Since you all have been so supportive of me and "cricket", I thought I'd show you my first creation!

We are headed to see our "Carolina Girls" this weekend - They are such great hostesses and always make us feel so welcome AND in light of tonight's victory against Ole Miss - me and "cricket" created a little goody for them!

What do you think????

Cricut? (pronounced "cricket")

Anyone ever heard of it? I hadn't until a few weeks ago and then....I saw it in action!!!!! WOW! I wanted one...that's all i knew.

You just wouldn't believe what all you can do with this thing! I really don't even know what all you can do with this thing but let me show you!

My best friend, who in fact introduced me to the Cricut, gave me this happy for my birthday:

How fun is that? I'm sure at some point, it will hold something more elegant than the kids library books but there was an immediate need and it worked!

After I saw the fun gift, I wanted to learn more about this cricut so I looked around the house, found an item to "cricut" and headed over to her house! This is what we came up with:

Do you love it yet? So here's the deal, I knew I wanted one and my birthday was coming up so I was planning on putting any birthday money towards it. So they retail for $290 at Walmart but is even more expensive online ($499.99). I just happened to be in Walmart today and thought I'd stroll down that aisle...maybe they were on sale? They had four and one (only one) was mismarked and priced $290 but also had another price sticker for $184....OMG!!! I called the manager over and he honored it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I seem probably overly giddy to someone who doesn't know what this thing is but just wait! You'll be seeing many "cricut creations" on the blog soon!

Wouldn't this look GREAT in your house?

You're probably thinking I typed in the wrong web address and I'm looking for Craigslist or even ebay but nope! I thought I'd try and sell this on my own blog!!!!

I actually did try craigslist but no response and I just love this sign! It hung in my breakfast room and we lost the space when we created the new organizational spot!

It's from Ballard Design and it retails in the catalog for $129.00 and is sold at the outlet for $95.99. I bought it at the outlet on even MORE sale for $75.99 and I'm trying to sell it for $50 so if you love it like I do, want to hang it in your house, buy it for a friend, etc....just let me know!

Fun things about today....

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down...and here in the A-T-L on this Monday...it is RAINING!!!!!!
But I did squeeze in a few fun things....
I had lunch with this precious little one

Then scooted over to this one's preschool for "Moments with Mom"

Put an entire outfit on this one INCLUDING her first pair of shoes!!!!! She was really excited!

Oh and I turned 34!!!!!! How is that possible?

One of my friends asked me "is this what you thought you'd be doing at 34?" to which I replied "yes, I just don't think I knew exactly what being a mom, wife, etc. really meant!"

I wouldn't change it for anything....

Transformation

One of my goals in life is to become an organized person! I LOVE when I'm organized! Everything has a place, it's uncluttered...simple. But the problem is, I am SO NOT an organized person!!!! I try and I do pretty well for a few days and then it all just falls apart! I can't keep it organized....it's just not my nature. So I keep trying to recreate myself and find new ways to organize - here is my latest attempt:

I found this shelf at Goodwill for $3.00!

Yes, I realized it had some bats, balls and gloves painted on it but I knew it would be just the perfect size for my project! And I was right! It fit perfectly when I got it home!

Here is the transformation:

I had a little nook in the kitchen just begging for a spot like this....

  • A spot for everyone's shoes (in the cubbies underneath)
  • A spot for sitting down to put on your shoes!
  • A spot for hanging all book bags
  • A spot for displaying precious faces!

So with a little paint and some hooks, the $3.00 Goodwill shelf was transformed into our new spot!

T.G.I.F.

My oldest is riding the bus now and I constantly think of how much I appreciate our sweet bus driver! I appreciate the fact that I don't have to get my other bed bugs out of bed at the crack of dawn and put them in the car to drive numero uno to school. He has my precious cargo on his bus so I want to make sure that he knows how much he's appreciated!!!

So the first week of school, we celebrated the week's end by getting Krispy Kreme for breakfast and gladly shared a hot donut with Mr. Hobbs (that's our bus driver's name!) Who wouldn't LOVE a hot krispy kreme at any hour of the day but especially a Friday morning after a long first week with elementary kids on a bus?

Last night I found the cutest goody for Mr. Hobbs at Target! I wasn't even looking but these were on sale for .49 cents! They are a rice krispie treat decorated like a bus! PRECIOUS! (and yummy!) I had to get one! (If wondering, they are in the deli/bread/produce section and they also had a cell phone as well - cute for your highschoolers lunch?)

Just wanted to share in case anyone needs to show a little love to their bus driver! T.G.I.F!

Happy Labor Day!

We spent the weekend with great friends in the Georgia mountains. I can't believe now that I even contemplated for one second not going! I thought I could get alot done around the house, rest more at home, not have to pack all the kids up and travel.....What was I even thinking?

We went on go cart rides.....

We petted horses......

We saw "Cowboy Water" - Where the cowboys in the old days would stop and get hydrated!

Some "cowboys" were braver than others....

We played in the creek.....

and got REALLY dirty.....

We went fishing......and numero uno caught his first fish!!!!

And baby girl got in on some of the fun when she wasn't napping!!!!

We shared alot of good quality time and these two grew closer together. It was a good reminder to:

  • ALWAYS include your brother
  • love one another
  • get outside
  • Be thankful God gave you a sibling

These are the kinds of weekends that memories are made of! I know my kids won't be forgetting this anytime soon!
