Happy Memorial Day!

(this is a picture of what the baby looks like right now - about the size of a grape)

Unfortunately, it hasn't been very memorable for me! Still in my pj's at 7:20 PM is never a good sign. I tried to get up this morning around 9:30 (Robby let me sleep in) but I couldn't stop throwing up/convulsing/dryheaving so I laid back down until he could bring me my nausea medicine (which is used for Chemo patients, by the way!) I stayed in bed for another hour and only made it up to put a little something on my stomach. Then Robby took the boys to my mom's pool and yep, you guessed it...it was back in the bed for me. THEN if that wasn't enough laying around for the day, they got home and it was time for the boys to take naps so yep, you guessed it....SO DID I! I know you are wondering how in the world is it possible to sleep so much? That's what my body does when it feels this sick...sleep through it! I keep thinking this baby must be FORMING it's genitals right now or something major to make mommy so sick!!!

We missed our neighborhood pool party and I hate not spending the day with my boys but I had no choice. I keep telling myself "this too shall pass" but WHEN? I also keep telling myself that this was God's plan to give us a baby right now (that wasn't our decision!) and His timing is perfect so that is my comfort. This too shall pass and when it does, it'll be great. I hope!!!

Steven Curtis Chapman

If anyone knows me really well, then they know there is not many things that keep my from taking a nap during the day (while my kids nap). But today I couldn't rest - my heart is so heavy and my stomach is in knots over the death of Steven Curtis Chapman's younger daughter, Maria who just turned five.

When I heard the news this morning that she had been struck by a car in their driveway, I was just shocked and wondered who in the world hit her? Then I read the article that said she was struck by her teenage brother. The sickness sank in and has stayed all day...

Robby and I, along with our small group, just recently saw him in concert and his two teenage boys are in his band - one sings (and even did his own set by himself) and one plays the drums. Both just amazing musicians and I sat there through the entire concert wondering what my boys would grow up to be like. (it's always been a desire of mine that one or both would love musical instruments - just a little side note about me!)

We even came home and told our friends that most of the concert was about the foundation he and his wife have started for adoptions. They had adopted three little girls from China and urged others to open their hearts and homes to the possibility of adoption. Maria was their youngest from China.

I read on their web page (http://www.stevencurtischapman.com/) that "Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman's completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago. These words are unthinkable to type. And yet we trust in a God who was not surprised by this and because of Jesus I am certain through faith in Him we will see Maria again."

Sometimes, it's hard for me to understand why God would do things like this and I know I don't see the entire picture but I question what good could come for that boy that ran over her? I have so many questions to ask Him when I get to heaven. I think about how reckless I am and rushed most days to get out of the driveway and even most days I get to the top of the driveway and turn around to make sure both kids are buckled. This morning I backed into Lawson's big wheel - my stomach aches thinking about how easily ANYONE could do this.

A few years ago, there was a similar story in Atlanta about a grandmother running over her grandson at Christmas time..people were loading up cars to go caroling and he ran out to tell his grandmother something - she never saw him. The mother went to my highschool and has gone to congress asking that every car has a backup sensor in them....something I strongly agree with. Click on the link to read her plea: http://www.citizen.org/documents/Peck.pdf You will be amazed at the statistics she mentions.

I've always had this song on my blog but it's ironic that he's singing it about his own tragedy. Thank God for hope and for a promise that we will see our loved ones again.

A New Era!

Why is it that the anticipation of something is sometimes worse than just DOING it? This seems to be the case with so many things in my life right now such as potty training, countdown to summer and most pressing...big boy bed transition. One would think this would be so easy for me! I've already been through this before with Numero Uno, right? WRONG! Just as nervous, if not MORE nervous about moving little man into a big boy bed. He is the active one...the one that climbs everything from kitchen counters to backyard fences. He is not phased by the word "no" or scared by a pop on the bottom. He is only still if the Wiggles are on tv AND it's a song he likes! Even during his most malicious and outraged tantrums, he follows his fit up by saying "sorry".

He has started putting a leg over his crib and I KNOW he could get out if he wanted to but luckily, he hasn't yet! I know traveling will be so much easier once we make the plunge! So long are the days when he would sleep so sound in his pac n play...plus, he can definitely get out of that! So...the question remains - Why is this so hard for me? I guess because I'm scared he won't stay in his bed, scared he won't listen when I try to discipline him, scared that my little man is growing up too fast! All that being said, I think it's time! We are traveling to my sister's in a few weeks and then going for a week long beach trip. Do you honestly think he would stay in a pac n play for those trips? NO! I checked on renting a crib at the beach and it was going to be $50 - My life would be so much easier if he and his brother could be in the twin beds at the bed. So here I am blogging to the world that I'm going to take the plunge before these two trips to move him into his big boy bed.

Then comes potty training and the long days of summer.....

Seriously?

So I've been in the bed since 5:00 PM when Robby got home due to "morning" sickness (whoever came up with that term hasn't followed me around all day!) I did get up to try and eat dinner but swore it was about to come right back up so I went and laid down again. He gave the kids a bath, got pj's on and I made a short appearance to tell them good night - then back in the bed. It wasn't because I was tired just sick....trying not to move.

But I did want to get up and see who made the finale of American Idol and I just have to ask - am I the only one BAWLING the ugly cry through the entire thing? Are you kidding me? I'm so glad I was by myself because someone might've thought I had a serious problem. I know I'm obviously more hormonal than some right now but this was ridiculous! I couldn't STOP crying!

That's all I got - I'm headed back to bed (for the night this time) and just wanted to see if I'm the only crazy one crying like a lunatic at American Idol?

What he thinks of me.....

So Heather's blog reminded me that Lawson filled out a form about me as well titled "All about my mom" - here's what he thinks about me!

My mom has Black eyes. (um, no!)

My mom has brown hair.

My mom is 2 feet tall.

My mom is 12 years old.

My mom is prettiest when she checks her email. (really?)

My mom likes to play outside.

My mom likes it when I help her clean up.

When I am nice she plays with me. (one little kid said "she doesn't give me spankings!)

I like it best when my mom cooks cookies.

I don't like it when my mom cooks broccoli.

My mom thinks I am a boy. (is that not right?)

LOVE HIM! couldn't tell him enough how lucky I was that God gave him to me.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! (times 3!!!!)

Okay so first of all, please pause the music so you can get the full effect of the video - we thought that Lawson tells it best... so here he is sharing our news with his best friend, graylyn.

Yep! He said it right! Due date is December 29th! It's the Christmas baby!!!!! And yes, it's the cause of the "foulness oozing from my bones" blog!!!!

I' ve had some time now to think this over and I had been saying for months that I just did not want a Christmas baby. So of course, God is looking down on me saying "silly, silly girl - I am giving you a baby in my time." and I really had come to terms with that even before the test was positive because I just had a feeling that might happen! A friend and I were discussing kids and pregnancies and she said "I'm so glad God designs our families" and that just keeps ringing in my head because I didn't choose to miscarry between my boys or have a Christmas baby but He knows what's best for me and everything is perfect in His timing.

So pray for our family as we embark on another pregnancy, more hormones, morning sickness ALL DAY!, potty training Andrew, moving boys together, Christmas shopping early, officially being outnumbered, and the arrival of a new blessing to this family.

Because we truly feel blessed!
