Planes Trains & Automobiles...and bus!

We covered all modes of transportation today! It's not what we set out to do - it just happened that way! Today was Paw's last day of work (Happy Retirement!) so we wanted to honor him with a little surprise!

He has driven the Marta bus for 35 years and today he turned in the keys! But before he did, we met him on his route and surprised him! The boys get the biggest kick out of this! They think Paw has the funnest job!

We met all kinds of interesting people who were sad their favorite bus driver was leaving! Little man, who never meets a stranger, greeted everyone and even shared his stickers with a few of the passengers! He thought he was so big sitting in the back of the bus by himself!! It was so funny to look back there and watch him and we wondered if people back there thought he was riding the Marta by himself!!!

Then they really wanted to ride the Marta TRAIN! We thought we might have time to do this on the way down but we didn't want to run late so since we had already discussed it - they had their hopes set on it!

How could anyone resist those sweet faces?
We boarded the Marta train going southbound. And even though I've done this MANY times in my life, this ride was different. This time I was looking out the window of the Marta train through the eyes of a child - We saw tall buildings, a CASTLE (Oglethorpe University) and a "new" McDonalds!! (they got really excited about that!) Again little man , never timid around strangers kept completely turning around with his knees on the seat staring at the asian couple behind us! I swear I had to turn him around 10 times! They were sweet and understanding and I just kept apologizing "so sorry" (that my 2 year old wants to stare at you!) We took the train to Lenox Station and then headed back northbound - the kids were fascinated - well the boys were anyway. Baby girl slept the entire time!

When we got back to our old stomping grounds in Chamblee, it was such a pretty day so we decided to take a picnic lunch to Peachtree Dekalb Airport and watch the planes take off and land. This place is so great (we actually had numero uno's 3rd birthday party here) and the boys had a blast! Here are some pictures from our day!

  1. I still can't believe how big baby girl is getting! What a fun day! I remember, years ago, taking my grandmother on Marta because she had never been and wanted to go on it! How fun!
